OUR CHRISTIAN ETHOS

Options for Life was founded by Christians, under its original name of Warley Leisure Project.  It was first established in a local church that provided the main source of paid staff and[IMAGE - Two participants at Harvest Spring Festival] volunteers, as well as several members of the Management Committee.  As the organisation has grown it now has a mixture of staff from all different faiths and backgrounds but it still retains its Christian roots.

The Christian ethos is rooted in a set of principles that draw their inspiration from the life and teaching of Jesus Christ, and may be shared by followers of other faiths or worldviews, and that the ultimate value is in people.

A full copy of the Ethos document is available from Options for Life.

We also run several Christian activities and events:

Weekly prayer meeting:  All staff and volunteers are invited to a weekly prayer meeting to pray for the needs of the organisation.

Monthly prayer bulletin: This bulletin details answers to prayer and needs to pray for each month.  It is available to anyone inside or outside the organisation.

Christian Gap group:  The group, which meets weekly, aims is to help people with learning disabilities explore Christianity and develop their Christian faith.  The evening involves prayers, bible reading, sharing experiences and exploring Christianity in a variety of ways.

Connect:  This is a quarterly event where we meet to thank God for what he has done and to pray for the needs of the organisation.  Anyone is welcome.

Local Churches Project:  This service provides enables people with a learning disability to access the life of their local church by providing transport and the support they require.

Annual trip to Spring Harvest:  Each year a group of staff and participants go to Spring Harvest, a Christian conference, held at Butlins.
