The Gateway Award scheme is accredited by MENCAP and is similar to the Duke of Edinburgh Award. 

There are three levels; bronze, silver and gold and the overall aim is to encourage challenge and achievement. 

Participants produce a portfolio of evidence to be assessed against five areas: physical recreation; service; lifestyle; hobbies; and adventure challenge.

Eddie, pictured here, is the first participant to complete his Gateway Award, to Bronze level, and was honoured at a special presentation.
