The next meeting of ‘the voice' is Wednesday 18th August 2010 6:30pm at Oak Green Lodge.

We will be discussing: agreed changes to STEPS Groups (evening & weekend activities); changes to Sandwell's contract from Block (a block of money for a group) to Spot (money for individuals) Contracts; proposal to offer a 50 week service every year.

Volunteer Appreciation Evening

On Friday 16^th July, we were privileged to be able to host a volunteers appreciation evening, in order to recognise and thank everyone who volunteers at Options for Life for their hard work and dedication. Around 25 volunteers attended and enjoyed a buffet, the chance to meet other volunteers and find out about what these other volunteers feel about their experiences. A great evening was had by all.

For Parents, Carers and Participants

Thank you to all the people who came along to the last meeting of 'the voice' in April. At that meeting I said that we would have a better idea about how the changes to our contracts with Sandwell Council would affect our evening and weekend activities by August and we would put these changes into affect by the end of September. At a meeting with Sandwell Council yesterday they informed us of the scale of the changes necessary and asked us to make those changes for the 1^st July.

We would therefore like to discuss the effect of these reductions at this week's meeting of 'the voice' in order that we can respond as quickly as possible. As we have given an assurance that we will continue our evening and weekend activities until September we will try to do this and bear most of the cost, however there are some things that may need to change such as transport costs. We would therefore like to discuss with you how best to bring about these changes. The meeting of 'the voice' in August will still be kept for discussing the changes to evening and weekend activities as it is clear that the biggest changes will need to come into affect at the end of September.

I will write all parents and carers later this month outlining the changes that we need to make and the effect on participants.

Community Fun Day

On Saturday 19th June, Options for Life is holding a Community Fund Day at Oak Green Lodge on Oak Green Way which is just off Causeway Green Road. The fun starts at 11.00am and will go on until 3.00pm. Everyone is welcome. We have a free bouncy castle and climbing wall, steel band performance, puppet show, raffle, art and craft, plant sale, nail art, fire engine giant ten pin bowling and lot more. Acorn Lodge Opening Ceremony

On Friday 22nd January the Mayor of Sandwell Cllr Geoff Lewis opened the Acorn Lodge Phase II building. This new building will be the HydroZone and provides a purpose build hydro therapy pool and hoist as well as a sensory room.

SNOW DOES NOT STOP PLAY

At Options for Life snow has not stopped play today Wednesday 6th January. But we are unable to get the vehicles out to pick up participants so we ask that if possible you come to us. We will endevour to keep all of our centres open during this cold spell and we will update you on any changes via phone and web site. We had a fantastic Christmas at Options for Life with so many different activities going on from Carol Concerts, Snowmen, Christmas Dinners Galore and so much more. Thank you to everyone who volunteered and took part we wish you all a Happy 2010 and God's Blessings to anyone and everyone who knows us.

'the voice'

The December forum of 'the voice' was well attended and we are looking forward to some significant changes for the Warley Leisure Football Group in the New Year as a result of the discussions we had.

The next meeting of 'the voice' will be Wednesday 6th January. It will be held at the usual venue of Oak Green Lodge at 6:30 and free hot drinks and cakes will be available.
