Our Projects

Our projects create additional opportunities for adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex support needs to develop skills, build confidence, increase independence and enjoy new experiences.

With the support of charitable trusts, funders and community partners, we have been able to develop new activities, improve our facilities and create opportunities that make a meaningful difference to the people we support.

Our Digital Inclusion & Skills programme helps participants develop the confidence and skills to use technology safely and more independently.
Our digital journey began with the Let's Get Digital project, which provided participants with internet-enabled tablets and opportunities to develop skills such as using email, joining friends from other hubs through video calls and taking part in digital activities.
This was developed further through the creation of a Digital Hub at Oak Green Lodge, providing computers and technology that participants could use for learning, training and other digital activities.
Our latest Digital Literacy project is continuing this work by further developing our accessible Digital Hub with additional desktop computers, iPads and essential software. This will enable more participants to develop digital confidence, independence and online safety skills.
Digital technology also provides opportunities for participants to communicate, be creative, learn new skills and stay connected with others.
Funded with support from: Mencap, Turner Trust and Pamela Barlow Charitable Trust.

Football has become a popular and established activity for participants at Options for Life, providing opportunities to be active, develop skills, build confidence and enjoy being part of a team.
Over several years, funding has enabled us to provide football coaching, equipment and kit and create inclusive opportunities for participants of different abilities to take part.
Our latest Goals for Growth project supports a 13-week programme of inclusive football sessions at Goals in Rowley Regis.
The sessions provide much more than physical activity. Participants can develop teamwork and football skills, build friendships, improve their confidence and enjoy regular physical activity in an inclusive and supportive environment.
Latest funding: £1,443 from Sport England's Movement Fund, made possible by the National Lottery.
Previous support includes: Boshier-Hinton Foundation and the Barclays Community Football Fund, delivered in partnership with Sported.

FunFit Project Photo Card

FunFit provides participants with an inclusive opportunity to enjoy physical activity in a supportive environment.
The programme is about much more than exercise. Regular sessions provide routine, social connection and opportunities for participants to build confidence while being active at their own pace.

Participants have previously taken part in FunFit and told us how much they valued the sessions. Following changes to funding at the venue, the sessions were no longer free to access, creating a financial barrier for some of the people we support.

Funding is helping us continue to provide this valued opportunity and support participants to remain active, connected and engaged.

Funded by: Saintbury Trust – £3,000.

Our Inclusive Cycling project is creating an accessible opportunity for participants to experience the enjoyment and benefits of cycling.

Funding enabled us to purchase an adaptive bike and protective equipment for participants using our services at Langley Park.

The adaptive bike provides participants with a safe and accessible way to take part in regular physical activity, while developing confidence and independence and enjoying time outdoors.

The project also creates opportunities for social interaction and helps make an activity that may otherwise be difficult to access available to people with learning disabilities.

Funded by: Sandwell Active Travel Community Grants Scheme – £1,455.

Our Inclusive Sports Day brings participants together for a fun and accessible day of sport, games and activities.

The event gives participants of different abilities opportunities to get involved, try activities, enjoy friendly competition and celebrate their achievements together.

Funding supports the venue, new games and equipment, awards and materials needed to make the event accessible, engaging and enjoyable for everyone.

The day promotes physical activity, confidence, social interaction and, most importantly, having fun together.

Funded with support from: The Geoff Hill Charitable Trust and SCVO Vision 2030 Community Grants 2026.

Project 6a.png

Our Soundbeam project creates opportunities for participants with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) to actively create and experience music.

Soundbeam is specialist touch-free music technology that uses movement to create sounds, allowing participants to engage with music in ways that are accessible to their individual abilities.

With support from professional musician Jobe Sullivan, participants have been introduced to the technology through customised music sessions designed around their needs.

The project provides opportunities for creativity, self-expression, interaction and enjoyment while enabling participants to experience the achievement of creating their own music.

Funded with support from: The Roger & Douglas Turner Charitable Trust and Will Charitable Trust.

Music and Creative Expression Poster.png

Music and creative expression provide participants with opportunities to communicate, develop confidence, learn new skills and enjoy creating and performing together.

Through our music projects, participants have been able to take part in regular workshops, explore different musical styles, use instruments and specialist equipment and work alongside professional musicians.

Our Let's Get Lyrical project also introduced accessible songwriting workshops, giving participants opportunities to explore melody, rhythm and lyrics and create their own music in a supportive environment.

These projects have encouraged creativity, collaboration and self-expression while giving participants opportunities to share and celebrate their talents.

Funded with support from: Creative Black Country.

Project 8.png

Our Therapeutic Art project creates accessible opportunities for participants with profound and multiple learning disabilities at Acorn Lodge to explore creativity and self-expression.

The six-week project provides specialist art sessions designed around the needs and abilities of participants, with small groups allowing for individual support and engagement.

Through creative activities, participants have opportunities to explore different sensory experiences, interact with others and express themselves in a supportive environment.

The project is designed to support engagement, self-awareness, social interaction and enjoyment through art.

Funded by: Arnold Clark Community Fund – £500.
