Women Zone is a women only service. The service was established in 1996 when we identified a gap in the local area for a service that Asian women with a learning disabilities and/or autism would be able to attend.  The original name of the service was Roshni which means light.

 

Initially we offered women access to an appropriate service where there was no mixing between male and female participants, which also met the cultural and religious needs of the women.

 

As the service has continued to grow and develop we have welcomed more women from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds and the service was renamed Women Zone.  We continue to ensure we meet all the cultural and religious needs of the women.

By listening to feedback from participants and parents/carers we now offer the opportunity to mix on occasion if desired.
