Fundraising for Options for Life

Options for Life is a Sandwell-based charity providing support to adults with learning disabilities and/or autism. We provide outreach provisions, hub-based activities and drop-in sessions. Our work helps to develop social and communication skills leading to independence.

We heavily depend on government grants and support as well as funding from Trusts and Foundations to continue our work. Our supporters and well-wishers are also a part of our driving force. Without their help, we would not be able to support our participants fully.

Fundraising for charities can be exciting and rewarding, especially when you know the money you raise will provide services and support to vulnerable people. Raising funds for your favourite charities helps make their important work possible. Individual teams and whole community groups can help raise money in many ways but remember, fundraising should always be fun; whether you are walking a local 5km or hosting a bake sale at your school, it's still all about having fun.

There are various ways for you to fundraise for charities, such as sponsoring an event, contributing through direct donation, providing goods and services, organising the event yourself, requesting donations from friends and family or the public and many more. It all depends on your own preferences and skills.

Fundraising events can be fun and rewarding. The satisfaction you get from holding an event, seeing the money raised, and knowing the impact of your fundraising will be tangible. But, sadly, it doesn't happen overnight. It takes time and effort to organise a good fundraising event. So, if you're in it for the long haul, then any of these options could be right for you. Many of them are ongoing too, so you'll have plenty of chances to practise!

We have recently signed up with TCS London Marathon. It is the largest annual fundraising event on the planet – since it began in 1981, participants have raised more than £1 billion for good causes.
