Celebrating Creativity, Confidence, and Community

The last two weeks have been full of energy, creativity, and fantastic achievements from our participants, and we couldn't be prouder of everything they have accomplished.

In the art room, participants have been extremely busy and imaginative. In preparation for Earth Day on the 22nd of April, they created their own 3D worlds celebrating our planet. Each piece was thoughtfully designed, and the addition of a tiny ladybird to complete the look showed wonderful attention to detail. Amazing work, everyone!

Creativity continued in another art session where Natalie used tissue paper to make a beautiful 3D spring flower. Natalie completed most of the work independently, needing just a little support when applying the glue — a great example of growing confidence and independence. Participants also enjoyed making their own Hawaiian shirts, embracing colour, patterns, and self-expression.

On Monday, the Art Group returned to creating Earth Day decorations, while at the same time some participants took part in Healthy Minds, focusing on wellbeing and relaxation.

Yesterday afternoon brought lots of smiles during Music with Yan, where participants sang together, created musical instruments, and had plenty of fun. Everyone joined in brilliantly. The cooking session was another big success, with participants working well as a team to mix dough and prepare delicious cookies, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all.

We were also proud to see Nita enjoying the Women’s Wellbeing session at Salop Drive Market Garden. Nita helped prepare fresh vegetables to make a vegetarian chilli with baked potatoes, which was absolutely delicious 🥕🫑. She also supported the gardening activities by planting borage and cosmos in the planter boxes and watering them, showing great engagement with both cooking and outdoor wellbeing.

There have been some fantastic community trips too. A Participants Day Out to RAF Cosford was great fun, with many photos taken throughout the day. Last Friday, Chris and Anthony explored Stourport, enjoying a lovely riverside walk followed by a visit to the funfair.

This week, Laura visited the Wolverhampton arcade, where she impressed everyone by reaching level ten on the Pink Panther game before switching games and achieving the high score. Laura was amazed after winning an incredible 873 tickets in total — fantastic work, Laura!

On the other side, participants had a brilliant morning at the new Carnival House in Merry Hill, where the lads loved playing mini golf. Back in the kitchen, Mikey put on his chef’s apron and had a very productive session. He made a fruit cake and learned valuable life skills including frying and boiling eggs, knife skills, and making potato wedges. Even better, Mikey finished by cleaning up, washing the dishes, and loading the dishwasher — an outstanding effort!

Overall, these past weeks have been a wonderful showcase of creativity, independence, teamwork, and confidence. Well done to all our participants — you should be incredibly proud of yourselves! 👏
