On 29th of January, 2026, the Options for Life participants from Oak Green Lodge enjoyed a truly magical trip to the Birmingham Hippodrome to watch the spectacular pantomime Robin Hood — and honestly, it was a hit from start to finish.
From the moment the lights dimmed and the curtain went up, the theatre was filled with colour, music, and pure energy. The vivid sets, lively performances, and hilarious interactive moments had everyone fully engaged. Laughter echoed around the auditorium, smiles were everywhere, and the excitement was impossible to miss. It was one of those days where you could just feel the joy in the room.
Our participants embraced the whole experience wholeheartedly. Many shared how much they loved the show, and their reactions — enthusiastic clapping, big smiles, and animated conversations — said it all. For several people, this was a rare opportunity to enjoy live theatre in a public setting, making the experience even more special and memorable.
💚 A Heartfelt Thank You
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Baily Thomas Charitable Trust and Creative Black Country for funding this Pantomime Trip project. Your generous support made this experience possible. Without it, our participants would have missed out on a joyful, confidence-boosting, and socially enriching day that will be remembered for a long time.
🌈 The Impact on Our Participants
The trip had a meaningful and positive impact, including:
Promoting social interaction: Participants shared the experience with peers in a fun, relaxed environment, encouraging conversation, connection, and shared enjoyment.
Boosting confidence and independence: Travelling together and visiting a major cultural venue helped build self-esteem and confidence in public settings.
Encouraging cultural participation: Many participants do not regularly have opportunities to attend live performances, making this a valuable and inclusive cultural experience.
Improving well-being: The laughter, excitement, and shared moments created an uplifting atmosphere that supported emotional well-being and happiness.
Days like this highlight just how powerful inclusive community experiences can be. The happiness, enthusiasm, and confidence shown throughout the visit remind us why opportunities like these matter so much — and why we’re excited to create many more moments like this in the future 💚✨
